My Dad has been working some time on writing a book that he has recently finished on pornography addiction and it's terrible effects. He wrote this from his own knowledge and vast experience (he and my mother have been called and have been working the past couple of years to help couples and individuals in San Antonio dealing with this devastating issue) and has been working with the Lighted Candle Society, having received their honorary, annual award earlier this year. www.lightedcandle.org (a national organization to fight pornography and the modern disintigration of the family)
It is, in my humble opinion, an absolute masterpiece on the subject, other addictions, and how they affect the body, spirit and, from my Dad's unique perspective, the brain. It is inspiring, enlightening, enjoyable to read and full of beautiful metaphors and stories.
Also, he will be speaking for the annual Addiction Recovery Conference. It will be broadcast on September 19 in all areas of North America and in South America (I am not sure if it will be in all of South America or just in Mexico). This is the first year that it will be translated into Spanish and broadcast in South America. The conference is for all individuals who work with or are called to serve in addiction recovery. Bishops, leaders, and other members are welcome to attend if they ask, but will not be requested to attend.
If you're interested in reading the book you can order it on www.forwardpress.org or through Lighted Candle Society or SA Lifeline.
I highly, highly recommend it! Also, the funds are dedicated to fighting pornography.

Susanna,
So good to find your blog and read of all your happenings! Your family is growing and so precious! Conrtas on Matt being accepted into the maxiofacial program! 4 years will go by like nothing! I am glad that you posted about your Dad's book because I knew it was finished, but couldn't remember the title. I would love to read it. Take care! Kristin
That should say CONGRATS! Sorry, my typing skills are off.
I'm telling all my family about this, Susanna! Absolutely amazing! I loved their talk they gave at our Stake Education Week last year. I also browsed through your blog--your kids are beautiful and I'm envious of you move to BOSTON!! I was just there on a trip with all my sisters--you'd recognize the backdrop with all my pics. We went to my sister's old ward in Belmont and went to the temple afterward. I don't know how many wards there are, but is Ellen Patton your Relief Society Pres? Just thought I'd ask...you'll know her soon enough since she'll be in your stake. She's awesome!
Your dad's book sounds great! I'm glad everything is going well for you in Boston.
Hello, I just stumbled upon your site. I have attended two of the meetings that your father has spoken at. Both of the meetings were wonderful and very educational for me and my family members. I agree whole heartedly that the book is the best read on Pornography / Sexual addiction. His professional knowledge of the brain and the impact that pornography has on its, is freeing to all that suffer from this type of addiction. It helps them understand that the behavior is truly an addiction of the body and deserves physical attention to obtain recovery. Religious leaders that read this book will never be to tell someone struggling with Pornography addiction to simply pray or read your scriptures. This type of help is important, but only scratches the surface. I also wanted to share this site, http://www.salifeline.org. They are also offering the book, and have some additional information about the work your father is doing.
